ATONEMENT
(KIPPURIM)
Shed between the horns of the altar and sprinkled between the cherubim,
the blood of the sacrifice from the outer court radiates from
the midst of the mercy seat. The token of death, encircled in gold and glory,
shines from the presence of the Life-giver.
The covering of the sacred ark,
standing above the tablets of stone and below the living cloud, holds the blood
that atones for the contrite
law-breakers before God.
